These fish can reach 15-17 inches with weights upwards from 2lbs!! The most common size structure for these crappies is a very respectable 11-13 inch class.
Crappies are targeted towards the middle of May into June while these fish await the rise in water temperatures that allow a productive spawn cycle. Anglers that book trips for spring Crappies might also want to consider fishing Walleyes or Pike for part of the day. When these Crappies are located the fishing can be simply outstanding!!
There are 2 other time periods in which Rainydaze Guide Service will target these big “Donks”. September into October often times has these fish chasing shiners into smaller river systems or schooled up over deeper rockpiles. Fall Crappie fishing can be great for large slabs and mixed with giant walleyes!!
February through April finds Rainydaze customers chasing these pre-spawn Crappies on the ice and every year our anglers land many fish over 15 inches!! Light tackle finessed in front of these angry crappies is hard to beat during this late ice period. These trips most often involve mobilizing with snowmobiles and portable fish houses and are simply loads of fun.
During the winter months Rainydaze Guide service will chase these crappies down with snowmobiles whereever the hot bite might be. Bring your rod, camera and lunch……..We’ll find the fish!!
